Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes Mascara

So I'm constantly on the lookout for my HG mascara, I thought I found it when I came across the Chanel Inimitable Intense Mascara... but I had a good run with it and wanted to try something new and somewhat promising... I still need to do a review for this mascara so all that info after I write about this!

So far I've been using my Australis Killer Curves Mascara (reviewed here) as an everyday go-to mascara and so far I'm liking it. But also, I've been fascinated with the whole hype of Maybelline's Great Lash and finally bought the new and improved Lots of Lashes and tried it out.

I grabbed it at a Big W whilst at Melbourne for like $10 for some reason? (Originally $15-16?) I don't know when it got scanned at the checkout it came up as $10! WIN! I'm not complaining! Anywho, I tried it on when I got home and honestly I'm not really disappointed! Will this be my new HG mascara? Maybe? I'm not too sure.

I'm loving the brush because it's not your typical mascara brush but a cone shaped one which will get into all the lashes on all angles. To me, all the mascaras I've tried from High End to Low End have no major effect on me because they all simply and nearly to the same thing.

Here are some pictures, they're not the best but I did try to get the best shots that I could!

1 Coat

2 Coat

3 Coats

I apologise about the photos but I swear when you use this mascara after 2-3 coats you'll see the effect. The images up there make the 2nd Coat look better than the 3rd!

When I first used this mascara I was a bit iffy about the wet formula, since most of the mascaras I have are dry formulas. Despite that, it went really well on my lashes. It voluminous on the lashes and somewhat holds the curl for a good period of time. I wore this mascara today and 2-3 hours have passed and my lashes are still significantly curled and also lengthens my curls beautifully.

I know my friend Shela, uses the original Great Lash and after being so fascinated by her luscious lashes she told me she uses Great Lash. Finally, after putting off using Maybelline mascara for quite sometime - I am definitely satisfied I picked this up!

Do you have any HG mascaras or any mascaras you would like to try?

Maybelline Eyestudio in Irresistable Ivy

I love this Palette, I love it so much that I bought myself one after purchasing one for my Giveaway. My sister kinda had trouble opening it for it so there's a chip in the white part of the eyeshadow.

What I love about this eyeshadow is the formula is pretty good. Comparable to Urban Decay's Naked 2 Formula I would say. It's smooth and creamy and highly pigmented.

I love how compact this eyeshadow quad is. I can carry it in my make up bag and touch up when needed.

They don't really have individual names but they're in a palette called Irresistable Ivy.
You can find them anywhere, where Maybelline is stocked for $16.95AU

Overall, it's a fabulous palette - there is also other palettes available. So check them out!

Recent Buys & DIY Polaroids

So I just got a haircut today and it cost me $25, I remember back in the days it only use to cost me $10 and this was the first time I actually paid to get my hair cut by myself! Usually my mum pays for it or my aunty does it for me but this time I was in such a rush I went to get it done today and I'm so happy with my new hair because it's layered out and thinned! So it won't be so bushy and thick for a while!

Nevertheless, I'm planning to dye my hair on Wednesday to a somewhat chocolate brown. The lady at the place I get my hair dye at was really helpful and ever since my aunty bought hairdressing supplies there I've always bought my hair dye there, never from the supermarket ever since then. It cost roughly or just a few dollars more than the supermarket ones you find like L'oreal, Garnier etc. But worth the quality and the colour payout. I paid $17.95 for my Hair Dye and Peroxide (30, 9%) Apparently the lower the percentage the more brighter and truer the colours will be. If you're unsure ask your hairdresser :)

Anywho these are things I bought today, I'm honestly thinking of doing a giveaway. I'm so tempted to open this eyeshadow palette but I promised myself this will be for the giveaway. I will also do another giveaway when I get my things I've ordered from America soon. So keep lookout for that too!

Maybelline Eyestudio in Irresistibly Ivy - $16.95 (I used my gift card I had from Target)
I'm eager to try this I heard it's really good and I saw Michelle Phan use a similar palette in one of her tutorials.

Elgon Hairdressing Hair Dye in 4/4 Copper Brown + Hairdressing Grade Peroxide - $17.95

Been using this hair dye since Year 9. I started dying my hair since Year 3.
The story behind dying my hair in year 3 was because my mum had left over hair dye during that time and she decided to smother it on me (nice move LOL) ever since then I've been addicted to dying my hair... Well sort of. The next time I dyed my hair was probably in Year 6 and then Year 7-9. I've basically dyed my hair probably 5-6 times in my life but the last year and a half or two my hair has been black. My hair has gone through: brown, purple, red, electric blue, purple, dark brown, blonde (for like 3 days), mahogany, orangey brown and then black. Okay maybe that was more than 5-6 times. Has my hair been damaged? Of course! In year 10 I bleached my hair blonde (I wanted brown but I left it in for too long) the school told me off for having unnaturally coloured hair because I went to a strict all girls catholic school. So 3 days later I dyed it to a brown which turned out slightly orangey and faded to a reddy brown.  SO THAT WAS MY STORY BEHIND MY HAIR LOL. Anyways... moving on!

BYS Million Dollar Baby Nail Polish from Gloss - $4.95

I was attracted by this polish, I mean LOOK AT THE SPARKLES. Reminds me of Sportsgirls one, I forgot the name but this is $3 cheaper I think. Meh, I'm not a fan of BYS cosmetics after my disaster with their flimsy packaging. Let me remind you, that once I have a bad experience with a product I disregard it. Yeah, beware cosmetic companies LOL, I kid. But you get what you pay for that price... besides Essence, THEY'RE FREAKING AWESOME. Anyways... I love this polish I have a gold foil look on my nails using FOA Calypso - Gold layered with Maxfactor 01 Ivory Nail Polish.

So instead of going to Uni today (in which I was contemplating and also not compulsory since it was a drop in tute) I ended up shopping around Westfields shopping. LOL. I also managed to get some pictures developed.

Some photos are for my friends, so I made multiple copies of them and made them into Polaroids on photoshop before processing them.
Also made little polaroids of me and the boyfriend for our anniversary and for keepsake :)
Unfortunately my wallet doesn't have a photo slot, but I'm going to store these photos anyways.
Took me ages but I managed! So much cheaper and crafty!

Liquid Eyeliners

So I recently bought Essence's Liquid Liner Pen and I gotta say... for $5 it is amazing! Better than anything else I've used and I think I will stock up on more! I've used Maybelline which is great but then when I bought Line Stiletto, I find that it starts cracking after setting after a while. (Dislike) But other than that it has decent staying power. MAC's Rapidblack, I loved it at first because I love how precise you can create lines with it but I found that it ran out way too soon and started drying out and all, which made me sad. LOL. But I don't think I'll repurchase either MAC or Maybelline, for now.

So right now, all eyes are on the Essence Liquid Liner Pen. It states that it's extra long lasting and it definitely is! I love the tip of the pen and the one thing I like about liquid eyeliners is that it is in a shape of a pen. I dislike Lash Stilettos brush style, even though it is somewhat quite like a pen. I have to try and manoeuvre around with it - I find it gets all over the place (maybe cause I'm a noob) and I just dislike the uneven application. So meeeeeeeh.

MAC, Essence, Maybelline.

Lash Stiletto, Essence, MAC.

Overall, liquid eyeliner/eyeliner in general is something you shouldn't go too high end for. If it works and it's affordable - go for it. I use to use Chanel's Waterproof Crayon eyeliner (which I still use from time to time) but I find that as long as another product is a fraction of the price AND is doing the same job. Then why pay the price?

The Essence Liner is available at all Target Stores. There's a little Essence Stand where all the other make up brands are in the MU section of Target. You won't miss it!

If you're like me and is a bit pedantic and loyal to having high end products due to luxury, experience as well as the assurance that you won't be disappointed. (I hope that really made sense... LOL) By all means, that's you. But for me - as long as it works, it's wonderful and you know you'll have more money in your pocket at the end of the day. Let alone, I will always buy high end foundations - just sayin'

Hope you find this somewhat useful! Oh, and before I forget. Thanks to all of those I tagged in the 11 Questions. I REALLY APPRECIATE IT! (I don't know if I mentioned this before - I think I did but I'll mention it again for those who didn't see my message)

Gel Liner Review

So here i am making a review on the gel liner's that i have. Let me remind you, I'm not some kind of beauty blogger or make up artist etc. So i only own 3 gel liners! I do not have a wide collection! This is purely out of my own intention and my thoughts on these products! Also i might do a liquid eyeliner review (if i'm bothered) i don't have much so yeaaaaah!

What we have here is:
  • Wet N Wild Mega Eyes Creme Liner in Black (886)
  • Maybelline's Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner in Charcoal Charbon
  • MAC Fluidline Gel Liner in Blacktrack

They even come with brushes when i purchased them (excluding the MAC one that's my own one)

So for my first review, this will be Wet N Wild Mega Eyes Creme Liner in Black (886)

"Line and define with eye-popping drama! Cruelty free. Not tested on animals. Versatile alternative to pencils and liquid liners; blendable formula lines, shades and contours eyes, precision of a liquid liner with a silkier, softer finish that lasts. Create beautifully defined lines with this rich, creamy formula. Applies effortlessly as it delivers long-lasting drama with a velvety finish. Comes with an easy to use, conveniently-sized brush. "

I bought this on eBay as this is from America and is an American brand?! (Pretty sure i'm right there) I got this for $8AUD?!

If i can remember and got recommended by a friend who said it's as good as MAC's Fluidline (which i recently got and also currently have today! so YAY!) Anywho, i was in love with it at first but after a while i found the application was so dry and i had to use a lot of product to achieve a decent result. After a while i ditched it for Maybelline's Eyestudio and was slightly impressed by it.

Pros:
  • It's long lasting, it's a mission to remove with make up remover
  • Highly Pigmented
  • Inexpensive
  • Waterproof and Smudgeproof
Cons:
  • The packaging, the lid looked so flimsy and i have a feeling that it doesn't do a good enough job sealing the air out (probably why mine is dry?!)
  • How it crumbles when it creases
  • Application was a horror, i had to keep grabbing more of the product for an achievable look and also 'clean' look
  • I didn't like the brush it came with it, i totally disregarded it!
  • The formula is a bit dry for my liking
  • Doesn't glide on with application
Overall: It's alright if you're starting off with gel liner i wouldn't say this would be my favourite though, it's a mediocre product and it's cruelty free!

Next will be Maybelline's Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner in Charcoal Charbon

"Only our oil-free formula can hold highly concentrated pigments in a clear gel base. So color is more intense and lines resist wear for 24 hours.  Smudge-proof and Water-proof. The most intense line for lasting drama."

I grabbed this on sale i think at Target, ages ago probably like a year ago. I snagged it for $10? And it was the first time i saw Maybelline with a Gel Liner - and was like I had to try this! so i tried it out!

To be honest i've been using it heaps but i hate how it gets onto my eyelids with it's shimmer it just looks yucky. So i avoid it as much as possible now and sometimes try to set it with black eyeshadow.
It's mediocre and i do like it slightly better than my Wet N Wild one but i got it in a greyish colour i didn't realise it until after i bought it... So yeah, still a nice colour!

Pros:
  • Gives a nice finish (if applied probably)
  • A tad shimmery so you can use it like a cream eyeshadow too
  • Great for a starter gel liner
  • Comes with a nifty brush (which i use everyday for gel liners)
Cons:
  • The formula is a bit dry for my liking
  • Doesn't glide on with application
  • It claims that it's smudge-proof and waterproof - Depends sometimes it smudges off and waterproof.. um not so quite.

And last but not least, MAC Fluidline Gel Liner in Blacktrack

"Ultra-smooth, Fluidline's gel formula provides the precision of a liquid liner with a silkier, softer finish. Goes on "foolproof" with a brush in an easy dip-and-stroke action. Long-wearing. Smudge-proof. Lines up in a rich array of colours and finishes."

Finally, my favourite and my new love. I've heard MUA's and also people from twitter, friends and all raving on about this and also when i was purchasing MAC from America and asked my cousin what gel liner is good - she firstly recommended Bobbi Brown's one since she uses it and all, but she said MAC's Fluidline is just as good. So with my order from MAC, i added this to my list. I cannot stress to you how much i am in love with this gel liner, it is the best one i have ever tried (so far) and those critics and reviews and all do NOT lie.

I remember opening it the first time and slightly freaked out on how shiny the gel liner was and realised it's called Fluidline for a reason (i'm pretty sure i mentioned that in my previous post too!) anywho, application for this was just flawlessly amazing! I used my Maybelline brush (the one that came with the eyestudio one) and also with one of my MAC angled brushes.

Pros:
  • The application is sleek and also it just glides effortlessly!
  • Highly Pigmented and stays put on the eyes
  • It's not matte / shimmery finished -  like my 2 gel liners mentioned it's has this liquidify effect (like when you use liquid eyeliner - probably part of the whole Fluidline idea.)
  • Stays on very well & EASY to remove with make up remover
  • Does not smudge or come off with water (therefore waterproof?)
Cons:
  • The price, It cost $32AUD - Um yeah i wouldn't spend $32 on that but i got mine for $15USD from America.
  • Can't really think of anything else!

Overall, if you would like to suggest any products that you want me to try or check out. Leave me a comment! This post was purely out of my own judgement and may vary to each individuals experiences.

MAC Me All Over!

So my order from America came today in the mail! I was only expecting my MAC Make Up (Eyeliner, Gel Liner & Tinted Moisturizer/Foundation) from my dear cousin Lila, who lives in Texas!

So i was walking to my front door at around 1pm and i saw the postman like 4 houses away and i just sat in front of my house, waiting til the mailman arrived and hoped that my parcel from America would arrive today! In which it did!!!!! Unexpectedly my MAC Brushes from Hong Kong arrived as well too! So DOUBLE SCORE!

I was so excited to try MAC's Fluidline Eyeliner Gel, I've heard so many good things about it and finally got my hands on it! Thank god i got this sent from America, cause i only paid $15USD?!

It glided onto my eyes very well and i was so surprised to see how 'wet & shiny' it looked when i opened it. It looks like ink! Hence why it's called Fluidline

Next was my long awaiting, MAC Studio Moisture Tint in Medium Plus

I've probably blogged about this like nearly 3 times already.... and i finally.. HAVE IT IN MY HANDS. The actual full size. This was $30USD ($48AUD) at the MAC Store. I'm not a huge fan of having my face in full coverage when it comes to foundation, i love light and minimal use of foundation on my face - because i only use it to even out my red patches and cover up any visible blemishes and all on my face! I never put anything over the amount of a 5 cent coin of foundation on my face so... most of my foundation will last me up to 2 years! And the shelf life for this foundation is... 2 years! Perfect! But i'll probably use this before 2 years because it's more of a moisturiser than a foundation - definitely my everyday go to!

To me, it has this sunscreenish smell with a mix of foundation.. (weird) but it's the only way i can subscribe it.
I'm not saying it has a weird smell though!

The reason why i love it so much is that it's light weight on my skin. You can say it's kind of like a BB cream (though i'm not a huge fan of BB creams because they tend to make my face look ghostly white and my skin is lightly tanned) I suggest if you really want a natural finish and something that doesn't weigh your face down. Go for this, try it at the MAC Counter and find the right colour for you! I'm a MAC - NC25 in most foundations but if you're like me you might go for a Medium Plus or just a Medium.

Next on the list as MAC Penultimate Liquid Eyeliner

I was a bit skeptical about the application tip? brush? pen? I don't know, but when i applied it on my eyes it was alright... Maybe it's the fact that i'm not a huge fan of Liquid Liner's since i have so much trouble applying them on but to me this was good as i like the Pen Liquid Liners more than the brush on ones... If that makes sense.

In Comparison to Maybelline's Line Definer Liquid Liner (Discontinued) (it's old and you can see how the letters have rubbed off!)

MAC's Penultimate (Left) & Maybelline's Line Definer (Right)

MAC (Top) & Maybelline (Bottom) - It's a bit more lighter since i've ran out of it.

I really did like Maybelline's Liquid Liner but i have oily eyelids so it tends to smudge and crease when i have it on, making my upper eyelids look cloggy and yuck. When i applied MAC's Penulitmate it was just a nice dry and precise formula and very pigmented and just stayed put! The brush was easy to maneuver around with so i really liked it though, i say if you're really skilled at applying Liquid Liner; anything goes!

Though i really REALLY dislike Maybelline's Lash Stiletto Liquid Liner & also their Mascara, which i'll probably one day make a review on them!

Bottomline: Overall, the MAC products i purchased was pricey but it was worth every cent. I was over the moon when i tried them and how they we're on face. I can't stress how much i'm in love with these items.

As for the brushes mentioned before, i bought myself another set as i needed proper eyeshadow, eyeliner, blush and also back up foundation brushes when ones like really dirty and i have a clean one to use.

I have previously owned a MAC 187 stippling brush which i got as a present from my cousin. I do use it  and that was $85AUD - I cherish it like no tomorrow LOL but honestly, i wouldn't spend $85 on just ONE brush alone - i could get a whole set! In which i have and... had a look at! Sigma Brushes, apparently are just as the same quality as MAC and are much cheaper! A whole set is $109 when 1 MAC Brush is like $85. LIKE CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT. I CAN BUY A WHOLE SET. But i got these brushes for the fraction of that price. If they do start fraying and also being crappy and all i know i can chuck away these and save up and buy those Sigma ones i've been lusting about!

For those who ask, why i would use brushes instead of my fingers and etc. In my opinion, when i use a particular brush it disbursts out the foundation evenly and also i don't have to use too much product - also because i love how the application is on my face. I rarely use my fingers to apply make up as it might be unhygenic and might cause breakouts and all but - it's all up to how you apply your makeup!

Anywho, i hope you enjoyed reading about my new love for these MAC products i've recently purchased! I'm still awaiting for my Urban Decay and Sephora packages from America in which i can review as well as try out for myself!

Love, J.
