Summer Favourites

Yes, it's summer! And I've been waiting all year for summer... despite the fact that I'm kind of missing the winter chill but nevertheless, this means.. trips to the beach, endless days of sunshine (of course!), ice cold drinks and most importantly slapping on that sunscreen!

So... since summer in Sydney is getting pretty humid and sticky. Make up wise, I've been keeping it minimal and natural.. as usual! Here are a few things I use / carry along with me on the regular.

Real Techniques Stippling Brush
Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation in 6.5
Mac Fix+ (Travel Size)
Korres Lip Butter in Mango
Tarte BB Tinted Treatment Cream 12 Hour Primer
Midnight Fantasy Atomiser
Girlz Only Dry Shampoo in Dawn 'til Dusk

First off, the Real Technique's Stippling Brush - I've been eyeing this brush for way too long and then, suddenly I took the pledge and just purchased the damn thing. I previously had a Royal and Langnickel Stippling brush and let me just say... every time I would apply foundation, there was ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS a fiber of hair stuck on my face. Needless to say, I got this brush and it blends effortlessly and I adore it. Best $10 spent. Legit.

MAC Fix +, I don't think anything really compares to MAC Fix+ (well from what I own). I would love to get my hands on the UD Skindinavia Face Setting Spray (despite similar properties, after trialing it) but I can justify paying $40-50? (From what I remember) so... Mac Fix+ (given that 100mls is only $26) and pretty much does the job for me - I'm set. I purchased this 30ml travel size spray of the Fix+ for $15 and it's the cutest bottle and super handy to travel with. I bring it with me everywhere and spritz for an instant refresh or even so to get that powdery factor off my face after setting it.

Girlz Only Dry Shampoo, don't let the really tacky name fool you. (Yeah the name... it's so childish - Hahaha) This shampoo is amazinggggggg and at $2 a pop I love it more than the Batiste Dry Shampoo (which retails for $9.99). For me, it doesn't leave an obvious powdery residue and it's doesn't hurt the wallet either! It comes in 3 varieties. I've gone through many cans and it's refreshes my second day old hair and smells wonderful.

Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation, what I love about this foundation is that - it literally lasts all day and makes my face flawless. A little goes a long way, that being said - I only apply a pea size amount for my entire face. I haven't given it much love lately as I've been using my Tarte BB Cream (pictured below) - since it's a 2 in 1 primer thing-ma-bob. But, for those special occasions or when I need some extra coverage - this is what I'll reach out for. It retails for $40 something (I don't remember) but if you're in the market for an awesome foundation I would highly recommend checking this one out.

Tarte BB Cream (12 Hour Primer), This item was a mission to get my hands on - I had to order it on eBay as Tarte does not ship internationally and also Mail Forwarding Services from the US just made it a little bit more pricier than what I wanted to pay. That being said, I'm so thankful I got my hands on this and I love this BB cream to bits! Let me just say kudos to Tarte, cause they're probably my favourite cosmetic brand on the market. Anyways, this BB cream literally stays on all day and has the bonus SPF 30 factor. Also when paired with the Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation it works WONDERS. Enough said. I think I need to stock up on this.

Korres Lip Butter in Mango, I've had this little number for a while and I still have not used it up. I love this Lip Butter and it's the best lip balm I've ever tried. It's super quenching and moisturising and I can say - whatever the weather it's perfect to give your dry lips some instant hydration and a little tint to make your lips come to life. Best $10 I've ever spent.

Last but not least, is my Perfume Atomiser (I didn't take a picture, but it's included in the above photo with all the other products). I got this little Atomiser when I purchased the Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy Gift Pack a while back and I've been refilling the Atomiser with various perfumes.

At the moment it's filled with Midnight Fantasy but a while back I've been filling it up with Still by Jennifer Lopez (which I got to say has to be my signature scent) I've received so many compliments from people and I think it's the perfect fragrance.

It's feminine, chic and also as a touch of that light floral scent which is flirty? Hahaha. (Trying my best to describe the scent). I don't know why, but I've always gravitated towards Celebrity perfumes (despite them being awesomely affordable) they always have this fruity and floral scent which I always get drawn upon.

Anyways, that concludes my Summer Favourites. Let me know in the comments below what your summer favourites are! I'm curious to know what they are :)

Til Next Time!
Love, J.

  2. Strangely enough, I find the scent of the dawn till dusk dry shampoo not to my liking. I really want to try that korres lip butter, I absolutely love anything mango.

  3. I love Korres lip butters too!! I am using the quince, pomegranate as well as the guava one and I really like them all~~ I haven't tried the mango one but I really want to since I love mango!! The Tarte bb cream sounds amazing but it's so difficult to get ahold of Tarte products since I don't live in the States >-<

  5. If you like the illamasqua liquid foundation, you might like garnier bb cream (for oily skin) as well. I think the consistence and finish of these two products are quite similar but garnier one is much cheaper ;)
