MAC Blushes in Margin & Peaches

So two weeks ago I picked up these MAC blushes at IMATS. Surprisingly I heard that they weren't 20% off because it was only the MAC Pro items that was 20% off so to my realisation now, when I handed my credit card I paid full price?! Oh well, I worked really hard and I deserved to spoil myself at IMATS! (Not going to kick myself...) If I knew that earlier... why did I bother waiting in line and shizz. Urgh!

Anyways, these are the very first MAC blushes I ever gotten and probably the most expensive blushes I've own to date. I was on the hunt for a peachy toned blush and somewhat Peaches was somewhat kinda what I wanted - not exactly but boy, it looks amazing on my cheeks! Hehehe.

I tried Warm Soul in store many times - which I really liked but you gotta have a light hand to apply that because it's really pigmented. I was planning to purchase Warm Soul at IMATS but it was sold out. I got to the MAC Pro stand at around 9am and crap... a lot of goodies were gone. Margin was a random purchase I don't know, when I swatched it.. I was like... "Okay, I'll get that one" cause the other colour I chose (I don't remember) probably it was Springsheen (I think) was sold out. So maybe... that's why I chose Peaches secondly?! Anywho don't care I got two blushes, I'm happy!

Together both blushers look awesome. I've gotten many compliments from wearing them (especially Peaches) and also it's great for everyday wear and also going out. Basically, ANYTHING. I recommended Peaches to my cousin Mel and this was after she bought the NARS Orgasm blusher from Mecca... I told her to suss out Peaches and go back and exchange Orgasm. And I'm pretty sure she really digs Peaches as well. :)

Margin (Left) & Peaches (Right)

As Margin is a Frost Blusher, as mentioned I use it sometimes as a highlight. As a blush by itself it's really opaque?! Well sheer. Peaches on the other hand is a Sheertone blush which is ... obviously sheer and also more pigmented and really buildable. The blushers I find are not so powdery they're smooth on application and last quite a while on the cheeks. I think a good couple of hours (4-5hrs?)

I believe Margin is $42 or $43 at the MAC Counter and Peaches is $40. You can find these at a MAC counter at Myer or David Jones.

Overall, I dig Peaches more and I love these blushers. Before these, I didn't really use blusher and now I'm so in love with Peaches and I love how it gives my face some colour. Love love love it!

Any other MAC blushes you admire or like to try?

Topshop Lips & Blusher

Hi all! I'm back in Sydney! Great to be home and away from the dreaded Melbourne weather! I can finally and properly blog again after an impromptu blog post previously which was just thrown together and I felt like it wasn't up to scratch.

Anywho, I have today some Topshop Goodies which I purchased at Topshop whilst at Melbourne. I was about to head to the MAC Pro store on Chapel Street to get a MAC Lipstick in Morange but contemplating paying $36 for just one whilst I can get 2 lippies somewhere else and all. After trying it on at Chadstone and falling in love with the colour, instead I opted for a cheaper version and also something somewhat similar in quality and colour. I wasn't really looking for a dupe but coming across these lipsticks and hearing that MAC manufactures Topshop Cosmetics, I knew I needed to get them!

The two topshop lippies I have is Infrared and Fire Cracker. To me Infrared is probably and nearly a close dupe for Morange, but I wouldn't say it 99% I wasn't really buying the colours for the dupes and I wasn't necessary going to pick it up, but seeing how it was so much similar to MAC Morange I just picked it up the lippies and used it ever since and loved everything about it.

Fire Cracker reminds me of MAC's Lady Danger but I believe they're somewhat a bit different on the lips but nevertheless they're nearly comparable. I wore Fire Cracker and a lady asked me if I was wearing Lady Danger when I was in the MAC store. Don't rely on my words to say they're exact dupes, but this is from observation and what I've swatched and wore on my lips.

Fire Cracker and Infrared.

The longevity of the lipsticks are pretty good, they're quality is pretty comparable to MAC lipsticks (considering that they're made by the same company). If you've own a MAC Lipstick then you know what I'm talking about. Despite the signature vanilla scent you get from the MAC Lipsticks, they last 3-4 hours wear on the lips and even after eating they don't completely go away. Obviously, with all lipsticks that's normal. As for the feel, they're nice and also matte - if you have dry lips you may want to apply some lip balm as applying on without any moisture may allow the lipstick to settle on the cracks on your lips and also emphasize the dryness (which we don't want and that is yuck!)

I also picked up a Creme Blush since I wanted something that will last longer on my face, I chose this nice natural Peachy Pink colour called Head Over Heels and I felt like I had to apply so much product to get the colour showing on my skin - which was okay because it's buildable!

Swatches
Blush: Head Over Heels, Infrared, Fire Cracker

Overall, I'm satisfied with the cosmetics I got from Topshop, I would definitely repurchase these items considering how awesome they are!

The Lipsticks were $15AU each and the Blush was $12. So far, exceptional quality and also they're Made in Italy so you know you're getting quality right there.

Know any good Topshop Lip Colours?

Elf Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder

Finally got my ELF Blush & Bronzer Duo. It's a close dupe but not exact of NARS Orgasm (Blush) and Laguna (Bronzer). I apologise for the swatch photo as it was the best I could take with my DSLR. The lighting in my room is just urgh... But it shall do. If you like, you can google the swatches for a better reference but this is somewhat true to the picture.

Comparing between NARS Orgasm & Laguna Duo...
  • Price: Elf is only $10AU (with Shipping / $3 in the US) while NARS is $45AU and $30US (I think). I got this for $5 with my $5 off Ebay Coupon I had.
  • Quality: Obviously quality will be different but it's what you get for what you pay for. For a $3 Drugstore brand, it does well. It's a bit powdery and obviously won't glide as smoothly like NARS. Overall the pigmentation is great and everything else about it is just as great as any other blush/bronzer on the market. Pretty mediocre and also great if you're on a budget.
  • Payout/Pigmentation: Payout and pigmentation is awesome, though the blusher is buildable and also the bronzer, you might have to be a bit careful because it's pretty dark. But it's Matte. The Blusher is slightly shimmery but not so shimmery it will have glitter particles that will be highly visible.
  • Colour: The colour* is slightly different. The Bronzer on the ELF is much more pigmented and somewhat darker than NARS Laguna. The Laguna is a tad shimmery, creamier to touch and also as a lighter pigmentation. As for the blush, NARS Orgasm is much more pinky and also a tad shimmery and buttery textured. ELF's Blush is much more peachier and also lighter.
*Comparisons have been made when swatching NARS at the Mecca Cosmetica Store Previous to this Post, along with online sources. To find out please google NARS Orgasm & Laguna along with ELF Dupes for a closer reference.

Overall, It's a great product but not an exact dupe. If you're on a budget you can find heaps of these on ebay (in which I mostly buy all my American products from) I love how the packaging is sturdy. I don't find it flimsy like everyone says it is but it's $3US so it holds up pretty well. I'm overall satisfied and paying $5 (with $5 off coupon I had for ebay) I am loving this. I currently own 3 bronzers and this is definitely a new bronzer I'm going to adore and try. I've been looking for a peachy blush so I'm going to give this a go.

You can also find ELF Products online from their Australian Website. Is there any other ELF Products you like and recommend?! I would love to try more elf products.

Lust Haves: Nars Blush, Highlighter, Bronzer

I went to Mecca Cosmetica at The Galleries, Victoria at the City on Tuesday. I just had to try out these NARS Powders because I've heard so much about them and I've never gotten around to trying them.

Nars Albatross - Highlighter & Swatch

I'm currently lusting over Albatross so much, because I'm in need of a really good highlighter. I tried this swatch at the Mecca Cosmetica store and fell in love with it. I love the reflective gold shimmer it contains within the powder itself - love love love it.

Nars Luster - Blush & Swatch

Nars Luster is probably what I always wanted in a blush. I'm not a fan of pink, red or coral blushes... Well this is somewhat like it... but I love peachy colours?! Nevertheless, I love Luster. I admire it so so so much. Perfect everyday blush in my opinion and sooooo for me!

Nars Casino - Bronzer & Swatch

I love this bronzer when I swatched it. It's better than the most talked about Nars bronzer Laguna in which I also swatched as well. I love Casino more, I can't really put my finger on why it's better - Probably the shade is much more lighter and has little specks of glitter which I admire (in some case most people do not like glitter) It's not obvious glitter but does provide a little gleam-ness when applied. I found that with the Laguna it does not really show up for me on one swatch (and I am an NC25) but I love this.

Overall, these blushes, highlighter (also part of the blushes) as well as the bronzer are $55AU at Mecca Cosmetica.

They're $28US on Sephora from what I know (For Albatross and Luster) and $32US for the Casino bronzer.

I'll be keeping my eyes on these and hoping I can purchase these real soon!
P.S. My birthday is in August... so if I don't get these in time I would love these a present! (just a hint hehehe)

Love, J.
